Testimonials - t1 Wetsuits

Unlike a lot of other pros, I do not sign wetsuit sponsorship contracts, because I want to be able to swim in the fastest wetsuit I can find. I try all wetsuits and test them religiously, and of all the wetsuits made, the T1 is the fastest, most comfortable to swim in, and very quick to get off! Thanks Emilio!

Hi Emilio Thanks so much. The T1 came and feels great. For me, the big plus is around the neck. For the first time ever, no neck scratches. Surprisingly, what I loved was walking down to the start without the upper on since it was 90 degrees for Sunday's race - stayed cool with it off for the last minute announcements then pulled it on and started. I swam well and stayed with or closer to a few guys than usual so that's good. T1 came off easy on top and the bottom is a no-brainer

A few months ago I wrote asking about the correct fit for the new T1. I got my answer, I got my suit soon afterwards and since then I've been racing in it. I used it to race a half-Ironman distance event a month ago, a sprint distance last week and just finished my first Ironman distance tri on Saturday. All in good time, all in great comfort and even in style (I have a Power Skinsuit as well). But the reason I wrote is to say that the wetsuit is just amazing...I have no doubt that it has significantly improved my performance in races. Apart from being supremely comfortable to swim in, it is so incredibly FAST through the water...and it's as easy to remove in transition as it looks on your video. Anyway, at the swim start of Saturday's race (Mohican Pineman in Ohio, won by Troy Jacobson) I only saw one other guy with a T1 but the number of questions we had from the other competitors was incredible - everyone wanted to know. The other guy (don't recall his name) raved about it too, both of us agreeing it was one of the best purchases we could have ever made. Expensive, yes, but what an incredible product and well worth the wait! - You get what you pay for I guess. Just know that you have one very satisfied (and now loyal) De Soto customer.

We have a large, talented and very active triathlon community here in Ohio (with some great race organizers like HFP Racing)...I have no doubt that the word will spread.

Cheryl and I purchased your T1 last month and used it for about 15 miles of open water swimming prior to IM Canada and wore the T1 during IMC last week. We had a great swim during the race and felt great coming out of the water. The T1 is an incredible improvement over every other swimming wetsuit I have ever used. The suits fit us perfect and allow us to use our swim stroke like when swimming in the pool. A few things I wanted to bring to your attention. At the IMC expo, Enduro Sports had the Ironman Fusion on display and let people take it to the lake to try on. I was part of a conversation with the sales person and a lady enquiring about the Fusion and the T1, the sales person stated that both suits would provide less buoyancy than traditional one piece suits, I corrected him saying the T1 provides as much buoyancy as all my previous suits, he did not agree with me. Also in the Inside Triathlon mag I got yesterday it has a small article about the two piece suits and lack of buoyancy compared to one piece suits. I strongly feel the T1 is far more buoyant than my one piece. The Enduro sales guy also said the T1 top rides up on you, I corrected him on this point also I took a very close look at the Fusion, a few points:

  1. The arms are only 1mm
  2. The arm and leg ends have sewn seams that do not stretch when taking on and off
  3. The legs have 3mm neoprene only
  4. The waist section were the top meets the bottom has a flap that is 100% useless
  5. They claim that the Fusion is more buoyancy on the top because of the high bibs and the top combine for 5mm compared to 2mm for the T1, but buoyancy on the top is not the problem it is the legs that hang down while swimming and the T1 better handles this with the 5mm on the legs I was in Penticton for a week prior to the race and wore the suit for several training swims prior to race day.

I must say that every time I put it on several people asked me about it. It was definitely the talk of the race when it came to swim gear, and the fact that Enduro sports had a Fusion on display helped fuel the talk. If you could have attended the Expo it would have been a great help for getting the T1 some visibility.

Thanks for your help in getting me the right size of wetsuit for my race on Sept. 1st. After wearing the suit I do not have to dread the swim portion of the race anymore. The suit performed wonderfully in the water and I am now thinking I can probably consider races with swims of more than a half mile! I will recommend the suit to everyone in Michigan.

Emilio, I just wanted to send you a quick note to tell you how much I like the new wetsuit. It was all you said it was and more! On my first open water swim I noticed an immediate improvement and my swimming partner noticed it too. With the total lack of restriction, you can't help but be faster. Thank you.

Emilio, I just want you to know that I had a great experience this past weekend in a mainland race using the T1 for the first time in a race. I was 3rd out of the water but thanks to the zipper-less technology, I was first on to the bike course. Alot of the Japanese were very interested in the suit and came over (before the race) to touch it and ask questions. I think your success will continue to grow when your suits reach the markets over here. Again, I am very happy with the T1. Thanks for pursuing the wetsuit technoloy with your time, effort and money. It was well worth the wait.

Emilio, You are the man. I swam in the suit last night and it is all that and a bag of chips. I felt like Lenny Krazzelburg out there. Without a doubt it is the fastest suit out there. Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to design and manufacture the best tri products. Hope to see you at this years Big Bear event.

Well, I got the T1 wetsuit last weekend, and drove up to Aquatic Park, SF to give it a test drive last Saturday morning. Strange enough, the water was actually slightly warm. Probably 65 degrees or so. The thing is awesome! Talk about freedom of movement. It was a pure pleasure swimming in this wetsuit. It felt like I wasn't wearing a top. Lifting my head up to sight forward has always been taxing in long swims because the traditional suits are so tight that it forces your head back down. This suit is totally different. I was only in the water for about 30 minutes, but dang if this thing isn't the most comfortable suit I've tried. I feel that it's money well spent. As far as the speed of the suit goes I, honestly, don't care that much. But based on how comfortable it is, I'd have to believe that it's a faster suit just because it takes so much less energy to complete my stroke. The freedom of movement in the arms is also the best I've experienced. Taking the suit off is not any more difficult than other wetsuits. I can have the top off and the bibs around my waist by the time I'm actually out of the water----same as a traditional suit. There was no problem with the top "riding up" during the swim---the arms are cut well enough so that won't happen. So I just wanted to give you a little favorable feedback on the new design. It looks very good so far! I'll let you know how it goes at IMC in a few weeks.

Emilio What a great wetsuit! More bouyant, more comfortable, and MUCH better shoulder mobility. Really psyched. 1st race trial this weekend. Got it for the IMUK. I'll let you know how I do. Found when I just grabbed the hem of the top crossarmed I bunched the fabric in the back & couldn't pull past the lump. Worked better when I first folded up 4" or so of the hem, to reduce bunching. Then I found something that worked better for me: pulled some of the L hem over my L elbow & used the strength of my deltoid to get the removal started; came off easier. You might want to have some others experiment with these or alternative ways to get past the strength problem some old athletes (I'm 65) & some women might experience. Thanx again for your dedication & innovation. Hafta believe this design's gonna sweep the field when word gets out... cheers

I have had several chances to swim in the T1 since I emailed you. No problems at all with the size and I am extremely happy with the way it performs and how easily it comes off.

Thanks for your help.

Its a go. my suit is sold at $200 today. I am going to stop at Nytro after the imperial beach race and put a deposit on the t1. kinda nervous and excited about this. nervous cause i'll be without a suit for a couple weeks and i'm giving up a pretty good product. excited because everything thats new and different about your suit seems brilliant. kind of like the first time aero bars came out for cyclists , (yeah, i'm old enough to remember), I knew instantly it was a great idea. I'm also comforted in the fact that every product i have used over the last several years thats been a Desoto product (swim briefs, tri-bags, skinsuits, run shorts & singlets) have been remarkable products as far as product quality and durability.

thanx, Richard

I tested my new T1 wetsuit this afternoon in the lake and I love it. It fits me really well, feels very flexible so that I do not feel like I am stuck in a rubber tube, is easy to get on and off, and I felt very comfortable swimming in it. I especially like the lightness of the rubber and the fact that it does not feel like it is choking me at the neck, which is a big concern of mine. I also really appreciated that you called me before you sent it out to double check the sizing of both my husband's and my wetsuits. It is extremely rare these days to receive anything close to good customer service from most companies, and I have certainly never received a call like that, unsolicited. Thank you for that and for the great wetsuit. I will be wearing it at Ironman USA in Lake Placid.

Dear Emilio, Amazing, is the best word for T1 wetsuit! I finally got to test it out yesterday, and I can safely say it's the best wetsuit I've ever worn. I can't say how much faster it is, but I bet the test will be over the longer haul of a 2.4m race. I'm sure that by staying comfortable, I'll be faster than I was in my old wetsuit. One thing is for sure, this wetsuit allows the closest approximation of my normal swimming stroke (for better or worse) of any I've tried. So the only excuse I'll have for my swim time at IM-USA next weekend will be my swim itself, and not my wetsuit. Thanks very much,

I can not praise and thank you enough for the T1. I was desperately searching for a new/used wetsuit with one week left before Ironman Canada, when you told me about the T1 and am I glad you did! Let me preface this anecdote by saying that this was my first Ironman event and I had never swam that far before. Needless to say, my biggest concern was making it through the swim. The T1 was absolutely amazing! The 2 piece design allows complete freedom of motion in the shoulders. You could imagine my joy and excitement as I finished the swim and saw that my time was 10-15 minutes faster than had expected! Once again, I just want to say how remarkable and quality a product you guys have come up with. Cheers!

I got an interesting call from DeSoto a couple of weeks ago. They wanted to know how I liked my newly purchased T1 wetsuit. I liked it tremendously, I told the nice young lady, but as it was my first and only wetsuit, I said I didn't have much to compare it against. Nice to know that the company does some research on their stuff. DeSoto's reputation for quality gear was one of the biggest factors in my decision to purchase the T1. Anyhow, we chatted for a bit, and I told her that I wish I had considered wearing only the bottom half of the two-piece suit in my last race 'cause the water was so warm. "Oh," says she, "Wait till you see our next catalog." "Really," says I, "You have to tell me now; you can't just say something like that and not tell the whole story." She told me there will be a sleeveless version of the top. They're going to make a Vest Top! How cool is that? One bottom with inter-changeable tops.
