The two-piece design of the T1 Wetsuits offers more comfort and less restriction. The top and bottom are not attached. This means you have much more freedom of movement and there is no “torso-rubber stretch” or shoulder fatigue that occurs with one-piece wetsuits. All T1 models are sold as separates for a customized and personal fit. With up to seven sizes of tops and bottoms, you have 49 possible size combinations from which to choose. Other features we innovated many years ago include lower necklines and thicker rubber in the legs and hips to help float the largest bones and muscles in the body. More floatation here means more speed. T1 Wetsuits are not filled with gimmicks, just physics.

Proper swim stroke includes swimming with your head slightly tilted up. Imagine how your head would be if you were reaching for something in an upper shelf of a cabinet. That said, the snug part may require a certain "getting use to.” The other part to know is that it will also relax a little bit over time by wearing it. It is important that the neck be snug so that water does not freely flow in while swimming.
This model is an affordable option that is perfect for sprints, warm water races, and pool swimming. Whether you like to swim for exercise or are on the swim course of a Triathlon, T1 Wetsuits offer you speed, comfort and buoyancy that will make swimming pure pleasure!

As a committed DeSoto customer since the early 2000's, and owning a De Soto full (two piece) wetsuit, that I've used in numerous West Coast races, I knew what to expect in terms of quality materials and workmanship of the Speedvest. But even my high expectations were exceeded. The vest fit was perfect, mirroring the same size as my DeSoto wetsuit top. It is feather light yet keeps my core toasty. And pairing the vest with my 'lava pants' (a jammer length neoprene bottom layer) I can swim level and comfortably in the winter 69-70 degree unheated pool here in the upper altitude of Hawaii Island where my full suit is just a bit too much warmth. Prepping for spring/summer tri and swims season, including Escape from Alcatraz, I am really glad I got this vest and can continue my workouts even as the pool's solar water heater is on the fritz. Item fits. Size up if you're not sure. Much higher quality than random Amazon wetsuits that I tried on. Look forward to wearing it in the ocean. I bought this because I have a long torso and regular wetsuits pull down on my arms......I hope it works out because I've been meaning to get one for years.
I used to be thin, I used to be fast, and I used to be young. Fortunately, I can size up on the vest and keep the bibs. This is both economical and less waste. I haven't tested it yet, that will have to wait many months but the craftsmanship is excellent.
I am a uniquely shaped woman and finding any wetsuit that fit has been a challenge. I tried on and swam with De Soto 2 piece and they are great quality pieces. They are the closest thing to perfect I have found. So I got to work... I trimmed the torso on the long john piece 5 inches, reattached, secured, and waterproofed that connection. I then trimmed another 3 inches off the legs. The top I choose is the speedvest sleeveless option. I trimmed the neck down. I trimmed the top up 5 inches, created a new zipper stop, and secured every stitching line. I used this wetsuit for the Steelhead IM 70.3 2023 and it worked quite well. But I did note that my shoulders need to be taken in a bit closer to my neck- too much material on top of my shoulders while swimming. I also need to add a dart to the chest and back to create a smaller arm hole. I am an accomplished seamstress and did research before undertaking this task. Thanks for the basic outline and great material to work with.
I absolutely love this vest! It so comfortable. I am tempted to wear it in warmer water because of compression. However, I would get too warm... It has been great on the days the water temperature dips below 65. Which has been a lot this Summer! Great product! I will be getting the Speedpants next...
I was drawn the unique 2-piece design of De Soto T-1 wet suit - my thinking was I could better customize the fit, and adapt to different water temperatures, by mixing the pieces. I was also drawn to the made in North America shop. I am very happy with my decision - I found the perfect fit, after having exchanged the T-1 Bib-john, and I expect the suit will serve me well for years to come. The personal customer service of the owner, Emilio, and customer service manager, Richard was exceptional. I highly recommend this company and its well-crafted products. Meldon Ellis
I've been surfing since pre-wet suits and doing triathlons and ocean swims since the early 80s and these are the best wet suits I've had in all those years. Can't race any more but bought the Speed Vest and Speed Tube when I stepped up ocean swimming due to Covid-19 and couldn't be happier. Worth the price. Also, thanks for the video on getting in an out, Emilio!
Great service. Great product. I bought the vest and pants to swim in he river while the gyms are closed. Water temp was 55 which I managed with this suit. Cold, but manageable. Pants are bomb-proof. Vest is good. Everything is quality design and construction. easy on and off. But honestly, the vest does ride up and expose my belly a little bit. I am pretty tall so that could be it, but this might not be avoidable even if you're little. Pull it down over the top of your butt and inevitably it will ride up to a narrower part of your body. Anyways, I would still buy it again and recommend it to anyone, just remember that it is a 2-piece and so you might have a little belly exposure.
I was very happy with my wetsuit. Renata was very helpful and suggested me to size up 1 on the pants. However the top was too tight/small and they replaced it promptly. They also delivered to my hotel where I was staying so that I could have it in time for my race. Very Happy with the product -easy to get on and off.
I did 70.3 Whistler with the T1 speedvest and Bibjohn I was first of the water in my category despite not having done my best time Overall great purchase, but it could be made thigther in order to prevent water from entering in the wetsuit
Through the years I have used open waters wetsuits form 3 or 4 of the powerhose brands. All of them were great. However I had always problems fitting to my peculiar body shape. Until I got into De Soto wetsuits. The best deign in the market. I first bought, several years ago the T1 First Wave Pullover and Bibjohn. And I truly discovered what a wetsuits properly fits and makes comfortable swimming, specially in winter time. Bibjohn cover your back so well plus the pullover brings more protection from cold waters. I recently bought the Speed vest and speedtube. The vest is exceptional. Fits so well and more easy than others to don on and take it off. The speedtube I went for a bit smaller and had trouble wimming. However Emilio De Soto was very kind and advice me to go one size up. The Speedtube is a bit more tight than the bibjohn, so you have to consider this. It worked perfectly well and getting it off is so easy and quick. Thanks to De Soto for highly recommended wetsuits.
Love my recent purchase of DeSoto Riviera Tri shorts. Perfect for long or short races or rides, spin class or even just to run in. Thanks DeSoto for making yet another great product that is not only attractive, but comfortable and functional.
When I received the top I was skeptical about the neck tightness. I even reached out to Emilio with that concern. He assured me it was meant to be that way and it would be fine in the water. Well, he was right. Swimming was great. The freedom in the shoulders, overall fit and bouyancy were excellent. Extremely happy with my purchase
The T1 vest is great. Top quality, versatile and easy to use. As owner of the complete T1 Bibjohn and Pullover I expected a lot from the Speedvest. And it delivers! Fast in the water, comfortable and warm. Great for moderate open water temperatures and quick swims in colder waters. The Speedvest delivers the same world-class feel and balance as the full DeSoto T1 wetsuit. As a swimming instructor I often enter and exit the water frequently during a lesson. I use the Speedvest when teaching. The T1 vest is always in my swim bag. Thanks, DeSoto

How to use this chart:
Find your height and weight on the size chart. This will narrow you down to one or two different sizes.
Bibjohn: Find your waist and hip measurements in the chart for your gender. This is your Bibjohn size.
Pullover: Find your chest and waist measurements in the chart for your gender. This is your Pullover size.
OTHER FACTORS:That you may find yourself in a different size top than bottom; it very common with T1 Wetsuits. It is very simple, imagine if you tried on two different sized one-piece wetsuits. You like the way the legs and hips feel on one of them, and you prefer the way the chest arms and shoulder feel on another. Simply put, this is what we offer combined with the notion that since the two pieces are not attached, but rather they overlap, there is a telescoping range between the bottom of the Pullover and the midsection of the Bibjohn to account for a larger range of heights and torso lengths!

A Warning About Certain Lubricants and their Affect on Fabrics: Many athletic lubricants, especially non-liquid types, (like Body Glide, vaseline, and chamois creams) work well for wetsuits, but not well for clothing. They tend to make clothing, especially loose clothing, sticky, instead of slick and slippery, and usually results in chafing. They will also damage, stain and discolor all fabrics over time. We advise against using them, and their use will nullify our warranty.
