Keep yourself cool and protect yourself from the sun with this De Soto Innovation - A cyclist’s Bolero style top.
Sizing: Please refer to the size chart button above, for guidance on how to achieve the right fit. Sizing is based on "wingspan" measured across your back, standing up, from wrist bone to wrist bone. If your measurement is a little over those shown, don't worry, this fabric stretches a lot and you want the Coolwings to be SNUG against your skin.
Fit Type: Form fitting.
Fit Note: Please do not assume your size, please use our size chart. If in doubt, email questions to contact@desotosport.com. Triathlon apparel is meant to fit next-to-skin. This is to eliminate potential chafing, and unnecessary drag during the swim, bike and run. If you’re not comfortable with this type of fit and or are between sizes, we recommend sizing up. Garment will fit the most snug the first time you put it on, it will relax slightly once wet.
Features and Benefits:
What makes ours different? Our Skin Cooler fiber is designed to feel and perform like silk (from a silkworm). Through Biomimicry, we took the virtues of this natural fiber and created a synthetic silk. It will keep you cool in hot weather and cooler when it is wet. Put it on and you will instantly feel the cool sensation. Wet it and you will notice a drop in the surface temperature of the skin between 7 and 10 degrees.
A MEDICAL TESTIM0NIAL: We received this letter from a respected Dermatologist and Mohs Surgeon:
I am an avid runner and triathlete and I recently discovered your Skin Cooler products, of which I'm a huge fan. I have been wearing them for a few months now and couldn't be happier. I am a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon. Every patient I see is plagued by basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or melanoma. I recommend your products to my active patients on a daily basis. It allows them to continue their active lifestyle while protecting themselves from the sun. I find your product to be far superior to all other cooling and sun protective lines. I truly appreciate your efforts and innovations.
Note: No garment should ever be a substitute so we always recommend you wear sunscreen underneath these, and all, products. It is crucial to keep in mind that a sunscreen's (whichever brand you may choose) SPF/UPF rating refers only to its ability to protect skin from UVB radiation. Because we know that UVA damage can be just as insidious, it is essential for the health of your skin that contains the UVA-protecting ingredients of titanium dioxide or zinc oxide.

I was surprised by how well it works. Living in South Florida the heat this year has been up there. I’ve been wearing the most meshy shirts I can find when heading out to ride my bike. I was skeptical that a long sleeve was going to be comfortable, but to my surprise not only was it comfortable it was actually cooler. When I soaked it in water, it actually became a little chilly. A happy purchase for sure.
I used this for the first time today cycling. About 90 degrees and humid. It was worse than bare skin. Had to take it off.
I like everything about Coolwings. The fabric tryly does kep me cooler in hot weather if I'm sweating and/or if I spray it with water, and the fit is great. I especially like they dont slide down my arms like regular arm warmers/coolers.
I recently raced for nearly 6 hours in the tropical heat of Indonesia while wearing Coolwings and a CORE temperature monitor. Despite riding non-stop hills and blazing sunshine, my core temperature never went above 38.4 C and quickly dropped into mid 37C when I splashed myself with water. In my prior experience racing without the Coolwings, my core temperature would reach 39C and stay there unless I reduced intensity, which is hard to do when racing.
Have two of the original versions. Loved them. loose comfortable fit. Original size unk. These two new versions are very snug (L) - wish I'd ordered next size up. If you're a new user, don't be afraid to wear them. Becomes second nature after 2nd/3rd ride, and THEY WORK.
I bought this a few years ago and is my number one gear when running an ultra. It keeps me cool plus it protects my arm sleeve and is perfect for packing ice to keep me cool on hot days. I wore it so often, I had to buy another one. I can’t rave about this piece of clothing enough. It is the BEST out there.
Easy on in T1 and my shoulders appreciated the coverage. This race can hit 114 degrees F and is brutal in the sun. Coolwings are great on training rides too when you are wearing a swim top instead of a bike jersey. Great product!
This product may be the sole reason I just finished Ironman Coeur d’Alene in 100+ degree temperatures. I put it on a few miles into the bike and kept it as wet as possible until the sun started going down on the run. The cooling effect and sunburn prevention were amazing. I was actually breaking the nothing new on race day rule (last minute purchase when I started to get worried about conditions) but obviously no regrets. Thank you De Soto!!
I've worn sleeves with sun protection when biking for 5 years. It's been 5 years of frustration, because they always FALL DOWN. That is until I found Coolwings bolero style. Now my arms are completely protected, and I don't have to keep pulling them up. I have Blue Hibiscus and White. I love them both. (the white stains around the cuff because my bike gloves are black, so I decided to buy a new pair this year. I'd also like to comment on the Skin Cooler Long Sleeve. I bought the Wildflower to wear when I swim. It protects me from the sun perfectly, and I'm happy about that. I'm very disappointed at how filthy the white parts get when I swim in a lake. I scrub and scrub, but can't get them clean. I wish DeSoto would have made the entire top with the Wildflower pattern. The sleeves and 99% of the back are white. I'm disappointed because it gets dirty and because I prefer the beautiful Wildflowers print to plain white.
Easy to put on, non-issue with sleeves falling halfway through a ride, no need for sunblock. Its actually cooler than bare skin because it uses the sweat that would instantly evaporate and let's it linger a bit to actively cool you down. It does what it says, cools your skin.
I bought this few years ago for my hot summer ultra run.so happy with this time I bought it for my husband and another one for myself . We love it it keeps you cool , excellent quality and fantastic service. Very happy . I really wish they make more colors lease
I found my body being overwhelmed by the humidity and heat of Chicago summer days and the coolwings have been a game changer. Dry I can feel tingling cooling sensations and wet it makes the heat tolerable. I also bought one for my mother who is fair skinned and suffers from heat rash. We both love our new training clothes additions. I have added the beanie and balaclavas to my collection and can't wait for them to come in the mail.
I love them! I purchased them for a 70.3 triathlon - but actually tried them out first on a chilly trail race. They kept the chill off my arms. Used them in a 70.3 this past weekend that had a cold start and they kept my arms warm on the bike and then cool on the run. I really liked them - they are much easier for me to get on after a swim than arm sleeves and once they are on, I don't have to worry about them at all...
I have an old mesh set of these and the new ones are higher spf and smooth fabric. Much better than arm coolers as they do not fall down. Very cooling when wet. I am 5’3 115 lbs and a medium fits well, perhaps a small would have worked
I’ve had a different brand, but sold them after trying coolwings. There is no binding feeling around the shoulders or under your arm—and they actually do feel cooler the second you put them on. The spf factor is a big seller for me, too!
The Coolwings "cooler" bolero worked great in a recent race. I like to keep my arms covered from the sun and also because I am sometimes a bit chilled at the beginning of the run. Arm sleeves alone don't cover your shoulders and I tend to have trouble keeping them up (skinny arms). I honestly wasn't aware of having the cooler on and when I started sweating, they did cool me. I would highly recommend this product. Also, the Site had an issue with delivering the item when promised but they were very good about touching base with me and letting me know and giving me an option to cancel the purchase if I wanted to. The delay was only a few days.
