In 1990 we invented this great mesh running cap. We updated it with a few unique features to make it a first in the triathlon market for a second time.

Our black Skin Cooler™ fabric keeps you just as cool as the white. It inherently has a reflective virtue that is created by a combination of the fibers, the fiber content, and the special way the fabric is knitted. Once the black fabric gets wet it keeps you cool in hot weather. This is no gimmick, we guarantee it works or your money back!

What makes ours different?  Our Skin Cooler fiber is designed to feel and perform like silk (from a silkworm). Through Biomimicry, we took the virtues of this natural fiber and created a synthetic silk.  It will keep you cool in hot weather and cooler when it is wet.  Put it on and you will instantly feel the cool sensation.  Wet it and you will notice a drop in the surface temperature of the skin between 7 and 10 degrees.

    LOVE THIS PERFECT RUN CAP!

    I wore this Skin Cooler cap today for a short run/walk in hot/humid 90’s and loved it even more than I thought I would! Used the small gel pocket for keys, and put ice inside the roomy top which was awesome along with airy/ventilated sides and the very soft one inch liner did not irritate my scalp! Came home smiling and energized!

    Great running hat

    I have resisted wearing a cap when running because of concerns about overheating, this cap has been great and so far has been holding up when going through the wash.

    a proven desoto classic

    over the years, i have probably purchased arond half a dozen of skin cooler caps. great staple for sweaty summers, light airy, good quality. it's a go to for shade and to shield light rain.

    It’s a “cool” hat

    After making the call to nearly shave my nearly bald head, I decided I should also shift from visors to full hats for the extra scalp coverage. I had always chosen visors due to the perceived cooler factor of the open top… BUT, this hat, especially when dampened (water, sweat, your call!) give an even greater cooling effect. Plus, something about it puts my mind in a good place to push the pace.

    So good I got a 2nd one!

    This is my 2nd review for this hat. I like my back one so much that I ordered another one in white. They work! I wet the hat just before I start my run and it helps so much. Went on vacation in Aruba and this was a life saver!

    Yes!!! A real cooling hat!

    I was nervous and doubtful that a black hat could keep me cool. I've worn it numerous times. I wet the hat just prior to my race and I am good to go and kept cool. I typically run hot and find myself needing to pull off hats or headbands. Not this hat!! It works! I'm here to buy another one, now in white!!

    Great hat

    normally i sweat through my hat within the first mile, always hoping sweat does not get into my eyes. With the skin cooler hat, i was cool enough to not soak the hat in sweat for this 5k Race. no sweat in my eyes at all.

    Best Running Cap I’ve Ever Used

    I rotate through 3 different running hats, but this is by far my favorite. Comfortable, quick drying, helps keep my head cool. Recently worn for Lubbock 70.3 Ironman.

    This is a great run cap

    Like all DeSoto products, this cap does what is says - it keeps your head cool on those days when you're running under a hot sun.

    Need a smaller hat for women

    Like fabric- does feel cooler. Hat is quite large- rides low, can easier tuck in tops of both ears, & have to overlap back Velcro quite a bit to fit. Velcro catches hair taking it off. A smaller size for women would be helpful. I’m 5’5”. Recommend for men & large women only.

    Great Cap - Works as Described

    Definitely a great running hat and I could feel the cooling once it got wet. It is a little stiffer than I usually like in my running hats, but overall, I am very happy with the purchase.

    Great hat

    This purchase is the latest in a long line of De Soto running hats. Simply put these are great hats for running and for everyday. Love the basic color choices, the fit and the function. There seem to have been some minor changes to the shape of the brim, and perhaps a couple other minor changes but still a great hat. Keep making these and maintain the high level of quality and workmanship. Thank you!

    Great hat : )

    I've now run many miles in this hat, comfortable, well fitting and great in both hot and cold weather protecting my bald head from the sun. The only thing I disliked was the high international postage cost.

    Great hat!

    I’ve been running in my new De Soto skin cooker hat, and it is sweet. The fit is great (thanks, Velcro!). My head is cool— literally and figuratively. I look like a rock star ⭐.

    Looking good at staying cool

    Both the white and black versions of the DeSoto Skin Cooler hat use the same SkinCooler technology. The bill of the cap is firm to maintain the shape you form it. It's not some knock off cardboard flimsy piece of junk. The rear fastener are two strips of high quality velcro and is easy and quick to find the right fit. What I love most about the cap is that the cap is not too deep. Another words, when I put the cap on, the hat does not touch my ears. The top of the hat has holes for ventilation, and this also will allow water to get to your scalp faster if you pour water on your head at races. No need to take it off. Overall, this is a well constructed cap and I can tell I will have both for a long time. Thanks DeSoto!

    Excellent products

    lovw The products so far. The hat is awesome light cool and really like the thickness of the bill. Also, really livening the riveria fli bid short. The pad is awesome and the compression is perfect. This is my first foray with the DeSoto products. Really loving the products, the quality, the fit. Awesome job DeSoto.! I’ll be purchasing more. Have my eye on the riveria or forza Tri Suit next for my Ironman Florida in April.

    Perfect fitting hat

    The white and black logo'ed hats are designed for athletes. The hat has an adjustable velcro strap in the back. The sides of the hat are perforated to help your head stay cool, allow water to enter and ventilate. The hat depth is not so deep that it wants to cover your ears. The hat sits just above for a PERFECT fit. The liner that goes around your head is very comfortable and wicks the sweat. Overall, the hat is a solid build and I know it will last. Thanks DeSoto!

    Best Tri-suit!

    Love this tri-suit. It fits perfectly, like it was made for me:). Extremely comfortable fit, like a second skin and is very comfortable in all 3 disciplines. The hidden fly is such an obvious feature if you think about it - but not on any other tri-suit I have ever had - so well done on this! I love the utility pockets, especially on the legs - very useful indeed. All-in-all, this is positively the best and most comfortable tri-suit I have owned and the with added bonus of it being stylishly funky:)

    Just what I needed on a super hot run!

    I used this cap for several training runs prior to wearing it in a 70.3 triathlon. Race day the run temp was 96 when I came out of T2 and got up over 100 while I was on the course. This hat kept my head cool and played a big role in keeping me from overheating. I definitely recommend it!

    Definitely giving five stars to my new favorite racing suit. I have absolutely zero regrets about this purchase. Initially, I was concerned about getting the right fit when buying a one-piece tri suit online. But after consulting with De Soto representatives I was confident enough to pull the trigger, and I haven’t looked back. It is usually an adventure getting into the suit, but once it’s on it feels like an extension of my skin. The Forza Tri Suit has all the great perks and innovations that De Soto is known for (compression band, skin cooler, liftfoil, clasico pad, etc.), and they are all noticeable and great, but the best thing I can say about this garment is how much I don’t notice it, ever. I put it on race morning and don’t think about it again until I see race pictures and realize how awesome I look!! Wetsuit legal or not, rain or shine, hot and humid, it doesn’t matter, I know what I am wearing, and I know I’ll be comfortable all day. One less thing to stress about…
