  • Skin Cooler 90™  fabric stretches with you, is soft next-to-skin and breathable. It blocks 90% UVB rays and provides a cooling sensation when wet.
  • Moisture wicking and protects the head and forehead from the sun

  • Whether you buy it in white or in black, if worn under a helmet, there is no difference in how much it will keep you cool, but you will  enjoy how it keeps sweat out of your eyes, and protects you from the sun through any vents in your helmet, especially if you have short hair, very little hair, or no hair.

What makes ours different?  Our Skin Cooler fiber is designed to feel and perform like silk (from a silkworm).  Through Biomimicry, we took the virtues of this natural fiber and created a synthetic silk.  It will keep you cool in hot weather and cooler when it is wet.  Put it on and you will instantly feel the cool sensation.  Wet it and you will notice a drop in the surface temperature of the skin between 7 and 10 degrees.

    Great for underneath a ski helmet

    I've had issues with overheating when downhill skiing to the point where my goggles fog and build up moisture which impacts my vision, and any beanie I wear was soaked at the end of the day. I'm bald, so a beanie is necessary to keep me from getting cold under my helmet. My sister found this one from DeSoto, and what a difference! I'm still plenty warm, but my goggles don't fog any longer, and at the end of the day I'm more comfortable because the beanie allowed the heat and moisture to wick away. It's also easy to dry when I take a break using a standard bathroom hand dryer, and it's easy to wash as well. I just ordered another one so I have a backup, but I highly recommend.

    Great purchase

    Bought this for my father in law (who is bald) for christmas. He was very happy and used it immediately. I originally got it to keep his head protected from the sun but he said it worked well keeping it warm too. Glad I purchased. Customer service was great too!!!

    I had to order 2…again.

    I purchased 2 Helmet Beanies a few years ago, But other members of my family used them more than I did, so I ordered 2 more! Great to wear under a helmet or alone during a run.

    Perfect size

    Competitors make these, but they're too deep. These are the perfect depth to fit your head. And the perfect weight so they're not stifling. Pour water on your head (through the holes in your helmet) and it will stay cool for a while.

    The best

    I've been through a lot of different type of beanies. For hot weather, these are by far the best, I just don't bother looking for a better product anymore, it's hard to believe there could be something better. I perspire a lot and these absorb the sweat and keep it out of my eyes. Also, the skin cooler fabric really works to keep the head cool.

    The best beanie I've every had

    I've worn the Skin Cooler Helmet Beanie for three years and can confirm that it kept me cool when it was hot and warm when it was cool. Living in Colorado, if you want to ride in winter, you need to dress correctly and the skin cooler helmet beanie gave me the right combination of wind protection as it wicked away sweat on the uphills and didn't chill me on the descents. I now have two, just in case.

    barbecued coconut

    my coconut gets barbecued in the sun so this is a great way to keep the sun off it. It also means I don't have to wear sunscreen on the top of my head, and I won't sweat it into my eyes

    This beanie keeps my bean cool!

    Admittedly I was doubtful. My body temp always goes way up when I run or bike and the thought of adding another layer seemed crazy. Then I tried it! Another game changer. My head stays cool and I don't overheat anymore under my helmet. My bean stays cool and comfortable with this beanie!

    Rad skin cooler helmet beanie thingy

    I love my beanie. It’s 90-100 degrees F where I’m riding now and I wear my arm sleeves and beanie every ride now that I have them. They have become essential pieces of my riding gear.

    No Betta Beenie

    This is my 3rd beenie from De Soto and won't buy any other brand. This is as cool as you can expect in the summer, keeps me warm in the winter and at the same time, keeps my face and eyes free from perspiration. Give it a try; you'll be glad you did.

    It works!

    The Helmet Beanie is the right combination of stretch, lightness, and coverage those of us who are folically impaired need. Anyone who has come back from a long ride on a sunny day with a sunburn pattern on the top of their head knows how important it is to have a head cover. I've tried everything, scarves, bandanas, and beanies from other manufacturers and the DeSoto Skin Cooler Helmet Beanie is the best.

    My second one.

    I love the skin cooler beanie. It is an essential accessory for any longer rides. I have shaved head, and no where for sweat to go. The beanie serves as layer to both cool and get moisture off my head. I forget its there even on the hottest days. When I misplaced the DeSoto one I impulsively bought a Pearl Izumi skull cap. The DeSoto one wins hands down for keeping me cool.

    Good Beanie

    I have several of these. I wear under helmet on pretty much every ride. Seem to wick sweat in the summer and regulate head temp in cooler months. Fit is good, just above my ears.

    Recommended for Riding in the Sun

    I have worn this beanie for 70.3 and 140.6 triathlons, as well as 100+ mile long rides. It does a great job of keeping me cool, protecting me from the sun, and, in turn, helping to protect my helmet.

    Best beanie ever

    I usually ride with a bandana to keep the sweat out of my eyes, but would skip that time consuming step during T1 if Triathlons. Enter the beanie - takes 1 second to put on and it totally does the job of keeping the sweat out. Love it.
